Licensing in BC
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CTCMA)
In June 1999, the Government announced the creation of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of B.C. (CTCMA). The CTCMA was created under The Health Professions Act, in a similar manner to other provincial regulatory bodies such as those who oversee doctors, nurses & physiotherapists. The role of the College is to regulate the profession and to “serve and protect the public”. The CTCMA is the regulatory body responsible for protecting the public and ensures that all its registrants meet strict standards for education, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills. All candidates for licensing in BC are examined on a wide range of clinical knowledge plus theories and techniques specific to the practice of TCM.
